Meet Mathew

Mathew Johnson didn't follow the typical path into real estate. His started in San Diego, moved through the craft brewery floors of Oregon, wound through New York City and the mountains of Aspen, and eventually landed on Long Island's North Shore — where he found a coastline with extraordinary homes, overlooked communities, and room to build something different.

Today, he's a luxury real estate advisor with Douglas Elliman, working with a deliberately small number of buyers and sellers from the Three Village area to the Gold Coast. His approach is advisory, not transactional. His knowledge is local, specific, and earned. And his client list is small on purpose.

From Colorado Breweries to Luxury Real Estate

Years in Oregon's craft beer industry taught Mathew that the difference between good and exceptional comes down to the details nobody sees — the preparation behind the product, the discipline of the process, the refusal to cut corners because it's easier. He brings that same standard to every listing, every offer, and every conversation.

The mountains sharpened something else. Mathew thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail — 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada — and this summer he's taking on the Continental Divide Trail, 3,100 miles through the spine of the Rockies. Those months on the trail built the discipline, planning, and composure he relies on when a deal gets complicated and the stakes are high.

A rustic, wooden house with a gabled roof surrounded by landscaped gardens, trees, and shrubbery, under a clear blue sky.

That combination — precision from the brewery, perspective from the trail, and genuine investment in people — is what Mathew's clients experience from the first conversation to the closing table.

“Mathew handled every detail with a level of professionalism, communication, and care that is rare to find. His knowledge of Old Field, Setauket, and the surrounding North Shore communities was invaluable throughout the entire process.”
